1972-1975 / Last Gasp

_
Brain Fantasy is one of those titles that appeared during the golden age that did not embarrass itself but also did very little to distinguish itself. There isn't much in the first issue that could not have been published in a mainstream comic book. The debut includes four featured stories, and most of them drag a bit, though I do rather like the last one by David Parker and Rick Shubb, "Where Do We Go From Here?"

The second issue is given a boost by the contributions of Larry Todd (two stories, plus the front cover art) and Michael C. Smith. It's a significant improvement over the first issue, but by 1975 it took more than this to maintain an ongoing title with Last Gasp.
