REVIEW SCORE 9
Mary Wings was no Robert Crumb when it came to drawing, but she could write some terrific, honest stories, including those found in her seminal book Come Out Comix. Are Your Highs Getting You Down? is a comic book about women getting high and getting straight. The stories are taken from the personal experiences of members in two women's substances abuse groups in Berkeley, California. Candid, truthful and non-judgmental tales about drugs and drug addiction.

HISTORICAL FOOTNOTES:
Mary Wings self-published a black and white version of this book in 1980 prior to the Last Gasp printing. Bud Plant printed approximately 10,000 copies of this comic book for the 1st printing and 20,000 copies of the 2nd printing. Both versions have 50-cent cover prices and state "First Printing Nov. 1972" on the inside front cover, which is why the two versions are considered indistinguishable from each other.
