REVIEW SCORE 9
Four years after publishing her landmark comic Come Out Comix, Mary Wings produced Dyke Shorts, another mostly autobiographical comic that conveys the life of a American lesbian in the 1970s. Intensely personal and straighforward, Wings writes about a multitude of topics as she relates stories about moving to California, her false pregnancy, and facing prejudice and stereotypes while trying to be open and forthright about her unpopular sexuality.

Mary Wings improved her illustration skills marginally since her last full comic book, but she's never going to win any cartooning awards. However, I always enjoy her work because of her honesty and intestinal fortitude; attributes that she no doubt developed by necessity through the course of her life experiences.
